Joran van der Sloot, currently serving a 28-year-sentence for murdering a young Peruvian woman, has impregnated a woman while locked up in Lima.
Maximo Altez says the pregnancy is past its third month, and Joran Van der Sloot himself apparently confirms that "a test has proved" the pregnancy.
The woman, identified only as "Leidi," is said to have become pregnant after an unsupervised visit with Van der Sloot, also believed to be Natalee Holloway's killer.

It's not clear whether that is allowed or possible under Peruvian prison rules, or how a convicted murder is able to achieve this for any reason, but so be it.
Media in Peru last year identified a woman named Leydi Figueroa Uceda as Van der Sloot's girlfriend, and said they conceived a son together, which she denied.
Altez then described the pair as "friends."
In De Telegraaf Van der Sloot said "Leidi" uses birth control pills but apparently forgot to take it and she would not have an abortion due to her faith.
He said he didn't have DNA proof the child is his, but believes it to be.
Van der Sloot, of course, is a known liar, having repeatedly confessed to killing U.S. teen Holloway, who disappeared in 2005, then retracting the confessions.
He was the last person to see her alive and is still wanted for allegedly extorting money from the Holloway family on the promise of revealing the location of her body.
Van der Sloot was convicted for the 2010 robbing and killing of Stephany Flores in a Lima hotel room after meeting her in a nearby casino.
He could resist extradition to the U.S. where is wanted in the Holloway case, if he obtains Peruvian nationality - a possibility if he fathers a Peruvian child.
