Governor Oshiomhole Sends Top Government Officials To Teach In Public Schools

The Edo State Ministry of Education has mandated top government officials such as Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Chairmen of Boards and Directors to take up teaching classes in public schools to assess their level of needs and help supervise their teachers.

The Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Mr. Ekpenisi Omorotionwan who disclosed this at Idia College, a public secondary school in Benin City where he taught Government in a senior class said the move was for supervision purpose and to ensure that teachers do their jobs well.

According to Omorotionwan, “No teacher is employed as Principal or Vice Principal. They were all employed first as teachers, and the more you teach the better you become”, adding that “the point has been made that if the Commissioner can go to the classroom no one has the excuse not to teach”
